If you've been skiing for a few years now, but still aren't completely confident on steeper and more intense runs, you're likely looking for just the right mix of challenge and ease. You don't want to go overboard, but you want to push your abilities a bit farther with each run that you make. Breckenridge is a great place for intermediate skiers to find the complete mix of challenge and comfort. As an intermediate skier, consider some of the following areas and pieces of advice for a great day in Breckenridge.

  • Peaks 7 and 8 offer exciting areas for intermediate skiing. Northstar and Claimjumper are two runs that are wonderfully moderate while offering a bit more separation than some of the other runs on Peak 8. Spilling right next door, several intermediate trails offer premier cruising zones at Peak 7 as well. The bottom of Peak 7 boasts the Independence Super Chair that serves as the center area for the Peak.
  • Peak 9 is the ideal range in Breckenridge for moderate skiers. Smooth trails make for wonderful ballroom skiing here, especially on runs such as Columbia and Sundown. And, the Peak 9 Restaurant makes for a great place to break and catch your breath. You'll want to avoid the nearby Bonanza run as it's usually crowded with beginner skiers who are not only practicing, but spending a lot of time scooting their way down the trail. If you're looking for a bit more of a challenge, you might try the more bumpy (yet mild) terrain on Peerless and Volunteer, both of which are housed on Peak 9.
  • Peak 10 offers three blue runs among much more technical terrain. Crystal, Centennial, and Doublejack are good choices for those looking for a bit more of a challenge. So, if you're ready to take it up a notch, you'll be rewarded with less crowds and wait times due to Peak 10's Falcon Super Chair and expert terrain.
  • Preparation. Many people consider themselves intermediate skiers because they are either relatively new to the sport or have taken several years off. Usually, this means that moderate-level skiers are comfortable on the mountain but can be a bit rusty at times. Regardless of your situation, it's good for intermediate skiers to keep a few factors in mind before hitting the slopes hard on the very first day. Be sure to spend a month or two before ski season training for the sport. You'll want to engage in cardio and aerobic exercise while also devoting time to strength training, stretching, and flexibility exercises.
  • Action. While you're on the slopes, monitor your activity level by taking frequent breaks and increasing the difficulty level slowly. Remember, although you might be shedding gold dust and feel ready to move into the advanced bracket, a day of skiing can be hard on your body. Listen to what your body is telling you, and don't push it. The last place you want to end up at the end of the day is on a run that's too difficult when you're losing steam. Remember, it might be worth it to save that harder run for a new day.

Breckenridge is the perfect mountain town to move up in your skiing ability. Beginners find it a wonderful and unintimidating place to practice while experts love the challenge and variety. Still, in between both of these groups, intermediates find themselves mastering areas and moving ahead to the endless new terrain that lies before them in Breckenridge. Whichever peak you choose on the Ten Mile Range, you're sure to find great intermediate skiing in gorgeous surroundings.

  • Now You Can Really Enjoy Your Christmas Vacation

Christmas is one of the most awaited holidays in each calendar year. It is the most enjoyable yet stressful holiday that you get to spend with your loved ones. You can never truly immerse your self in the holiday spirit if you are all stressed out thinking about the gifts that you have not bought yet, how to set the dinner table, what food you have not yet prepared and family members who might give you even more stress. If you decide to spend Christmas away from home to do away with all of the stress, what better way is there to spend the Holidays than by spending it on vacation, with your family? You can create some wonderful memories that you can look back on if you will spend a family Christmas vacation with your family. Here are some tips on how you can get the most out of a Christmas vacation: 1. Have a family meeting and decide where you will go for your Christmas vacation. List down all of the options of where you would like to spend the holidays. Have each family member suggest a place where he or she would enjoy the most, and decide for yourselves which of the options would be the best way to go. This compromise will give each family member one less thing to complain or worry about. Decide together how long you plan to stay on the place of your choice, and make sure that nobody has a previous commitment so that you can all spend the entire vacation together. 2. Make a to-do list so that you will not forget anything during the trip. Do your Christmas shopping early and wrap your Christmas presents in advance. Assign a particular item or activity to family members and have everyone participate so that nobody will miss out on all the fun. 3. Plan your Christmas dinner. Your vacation will never be complete without the entire family sitting down for a Christmas dinner. If you planned your Christmas vacation on a remote place, pack a cooler and make sure that you have all the food items with you so that you can have a bountiful feast for Christmas dinner. 4. Let it all out and enjoy! Aside from the gift giving, the food and the holiday rush, the most important thing that you need to do while celebrating Christmas on vacation is: be together. With the busy year behind you where you hardly ever get to see each other, now is the time to finally enjoy each other's company at leisure. You might constantly bicker with your siblings, or argue a lot with your parents, but when your family is all together, that is when you know that at the end of the day, your family is all you have and they are the only ones who will stick with you no matter what. Enjoy these precious moments that make all the stress caused by the holidays worthwhile. Source: Free Articles
